Mt Hutt - Season 2025

FIS - 5 Day Program

LEARN/TRAIN TO RACE – Designed for athletes building on past experiences and further developing their technical skills. Athletes will learn to link their outcomes with their preparations, working towards more autonomy and responsibility for their actions.

TRAIN TO RACE/WIN – Works with athletes wishing to pursue ski racing to a higher level.

FIS

5 Day Program

This program is for FIS aged athletes who plan to race in FIS races during the season.

The focus is training to prepare for FIS races, both in New Zealand and overseas.  This program is geared for the competitive skier with a focus on competition development, as they hone their skills at FIS level.

Coaches will bring the focus towards developing not just the skiing and race skills but will begin to make the athlete aware of their potential in fitness and mental aspects affecting their peak performance.

The experienced, professional staff will encourage clear communication of goals and provide appropriate challenges through free-skiing, drills, and training environments that mimic race situations.

The program includes up to five days per week training or racing. In a normal week, this will be Wednesday to Sunday. During the FIS race period, this schedule will vary around the race schedule.

The FIS race schedule will be communicated with the FIS athletes, based on goals and performance. The full FIS race schedule can be found on SSNZ.

FIS Athletes will need to get a FIS License in order to compete in FIS races, and competition in selected FIS races needs to be discussed at a coaches’ discretion. FIS Races and structure provide an even field on which athletes can compare and achieve on a world scale. It provides healthy competition and a professional atmosphere where athletes can develop and achieve their goals and aspirations. This is an important step in achieving national recognition or acceptance to NZ National Ski Racing Programs.

We encourage all parents to take out their own insurance for unforeseen circumstances. Team Hutt does not have an insurance option to provide. We DO NOT provide refunds for the program. This includes, but not limited to, sickness, injury, weather, mountain closure, pandemic, family issues, or exclusions from the program resulting from breach of our Code of Conduct.

Program Dates: The FIS 5 day program will start on Saturday 28 June 2025 and will finish on Sunday 5 October 2025.

* Program Times: The daily scheduled training times are an outline, and may be subject to change based on weather, safety, athlete fatigue, or mountain closure. If the mountain is open, we will endeavour to operate for a minimum of one hour and a maximum of five hours.

We highly recommend purchasing the first tracks add-on to your Mt Hutt pass. This gets you on the chair earlier on weekends when first tracks is operating, and when able we will start training earlier.

If the mountain is open, training starts at 9am each day, or earlier if available. If the mountain is on hold, we are on hold until a decision is made, and if the mountain is open then training is on. If the mountain is closed, then there is no training.
